How bout hearing it from some other individuals...
UC Davis Asian & Pacific-Islander Queers (APIQ) has been my heart and soul for the last 3 years. I have worked tirelessly as an officer for the organization. I have truly loved every single moment of it, good and bad. The people I have met through APIQ are wonderful in so many ways. APIQ has been a little family for me here in Davis, it has been my support system, my network, and my communal foundation. Through working within the organization I have developed an uncontrollable urge to be an activist in the community. Every moment in APIQ has been a chance for me to learn, to grow, and to encourage activism. APIQ has guided me in the direction to fight for the rights of the API & LGBTQQIA community.

APIQ has made an amazing impact on my life. Had I not met the wonderful people in APIQ my life would not be as fulfilling as it is now. Meeting people who are in the same boat as I am (not pertaining to citizen status!!! =P) is an incredible feeling. They understand the problems we face as queer AND Asian people. Not only do they understand, they are supportive, accepting and caring. I only want the best for the people I've met in and through APIQ. APIQ has changed my life and I am forever grateful. I would have never guessed at my first APIQ meeting that I would encounter a group of people I would become close with in such a short amount of time. It's only been three months since my first APIQ meeting but I feel like I've known some of them for ages. It's not all serious discussion during the meetings either. These people know how to have fun and being around the members just make me happy. Thank you APIQ. The only regret I have is that I didn't go to a meeting earlier!

Despite the fact I am not API, I found the people in this organization very accepting because of the hardships they've experienced not only as API, but as LGB individuals in a narrowminded and frightful society. Through the attendance of their events, I came to familiarize myself with wonderful people who care about the way we are forced to live. Myself being somewhat afraid of establishing bonds or any type of relationships with gay people, I came to see these people as family. It is very clear that this organization goes above and beyond the duty of awareness. They work hard and play hard! If it wasn't for APIQ being a part of my life, I would probably be depressed and still closeted to my own family. I'm quite happy and greatful to APIQ. Through this great and inspiring family I feel much more hopeful that some day we can all walk down the street as equals......as human beings.

Hey Hey Hey, it's me.... the one and only Nikki Lincon! Pride baby..... @K@ Yeleng....:P A...P I... A A PI....Q.....whooooooo APIQ rocks all over. This program has done more than give me a safe zone to be and help shape who i am today. I remember that first day i got involved with APIQ, my friend Leslie took me to APIQ Idol in Winter 2003. Ever since, i've made so many new friends, and got the chance to work with so many of them as well. And i can't forget my side-kick Alvin.... who can forget about him...... (j/k alvin). Everyone has the chance to live, so take advantage of it. Be happy. Live life to the fullest cause you never know when it gets flipped upside down. Whether i'll be in Davis much longer or not, i know i have made history here in Davis and UCD. Make that mark of yours and don't forget that gold seal of APIQ on top of it all. Pride always, Yeleng @K@ Nikki! <3 P.S. Celine Dion rules.....didn't think i would forget did you? lol
